2018 Ford F-150 Trim Levels Explained

2018 Ford F-150 LARIAT SuperCrew

What is driving you toward a new truck? Whatever it is, the 2018 Ford F-150 has it. This Kelley Blue Book Best Buy comes in seven trim editions, five engines, and five cabin/bed configurations.

XL editions are the basic work truck. You can drop back to vinyl, enjoy the regular cloth, or embrace the sport cloth upholstery. The vinyl floor is easy to clean. All engines are offered, although the V6 is standard. It generates 295 horsepower and is controlled by a six-speed automatic. All three cabs and all three beds are available. With the two-row models, XL and XLT trims have a flip-up rear bench.

XLT models are offered with the same engines and configurations, but these trucks definitely have more to offer. An enlarged productivity screen works with your rearview camera. Voice commands make it easy to use AppLink with the Sync system. Power accessories and a smart-charging USB port are on board.

Lariats are really a step above. With a choice of SuperCab or SuperCrew, the cabin comes with leather upholstery, a power-adjustable steering column, a power-heated steering wheel, and the Sync touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto add dozens of apps to complement the existing Ford apps. Additional advantages include 911 Assist and an extra smart-charging USB port. The ten-way power chairs have heat, ventilation and driver memory functions. A standard Ecoboost engine produces 325 horsepower and controls it with a ten-speed automatic. The two higher engine choices and all three bed choices are on the menu.

King Ranch editions add rain-sensing wipers and a reverse sensing system. The dressy cabin wears a trim-specific upholstery of high quality leather. This truck is eligible for a WiFi hotspot via SYNC Connect. These SuperCrew cabins come with a choice of medium or long beds. For passenger comfort, they have heated rear seats. A fold-flat extension is included to create a truly flat floor when the seats are folded. King Ranch and Platinum editions have a standard 395-horsepower V8, but they are also eligible for the twin-turbo V6.

Platinum editions have Ford’s Multi-contour seats. Active Motion is an automated massage function that seems just right in this luxury cabin. SuperCrew models have two rows of leather seats. The sound system surrounds you with ten speakers. It also adds HD Radio and a CD player. For safety, a blind spot monitor reduces the chances of causing a collision.

Limited editions move even further upscale. The Ecoboost V6 generates 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers can take the sting out of parking with the Limited’s 360-degree camera and Active Park Assist. Forward collision warnings are mated with a pedestrian watch and Adaptive Cruise Control.

If you are worried about towing, a tow hitch is available on XL and XLT models and standard on Lariat and other high trims. Even the base models have trailer sway control. Dynamic hitch assist is part of the basic backup camera system. All models offer Pro Trailer Backup Assist, the unique Ford feature that lets you park the trailer with the turn of a dash dial.

For off-road challenges, you can choose four-wheel drive on any model and be ready for a turn in the dirt. For tough trails, the 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor is definitely the best trim choice. You won’t need any packages. This one is ready with skid plates, hill descent control, a long travel suspension, and a high-output 450-horsepower engine.

Taking a test drive is just the start of the fun you can have in the 2018 Ford F-150. Find your favorite trim at Peoria Ford.
