The recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, have had severe and far-reaching impacts, with countless individuals left homeless and numerous businesses destroyed. Even in the midst of these hardships, the auto industry—especially the classic American automaker Ford Motors—has stepped forward to help. Ford has announced measures to support affected community members and first responders as they embark on recovery and rebuilding.
How is Ford Helping?
In partnership with Ford Philanthropy, Ford dealers across 13 states in the Western US have contributed to the California Community Foundation's Wildlife Recovery Fund. They donated $465,000 to provide local organizations in California with the supplies and resources needed to support community members. The funds raised by Ford and its philanthropic division also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. In addition to aiding the broader LA community, Ford is offering displaced individuals discounted prices on Ford vehicles and deferred payment options. Ford further provides free electric chargers for customers who purchase an electric vehicle, and its employees may take paid leave to assist with recovery efforts.
What Organizations Does Ford Support?
Ford's contributions benefit various organizations active in the LA area. The American Red Cross, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon are among the organizations receiving support from Ford's donations. Together, these groups continue to offer vital assistance to LA wildfire victims as they rebuild. The Red Cross maintains efforts to provide shelter and necessary supplies to those displaced, while Team Rubicon is focused on supplying longer-term support as victims await home restoration. Both Feeding America and the World Central Kitchen are committed to delivering meals and food to affected residents.
Special Electric Vehicle Support
Owners of Ford and Lincoln vehicles within the FEMA disaster area are eligible for special Ford incentives. This includes reimbursement for all-electric vehicles charged at a charging station from January 7 - 31. Local Ford dealerships can also provide free charging adapters to customers who have lost their homes or are using an electric vehicle to assist with disaster relief. Additionally, Ford offers free replacements for customers whose home charging stations were lost in the fires.
