What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has been a long-standing favorite among three-row SUVs, and with several updates for the 2025 model year, it's now better than ever. The Explorer has received changes inside and out to remain competitive in its class. The 2025 model features new front and rear styling, while the interior has been refreshed with a Google-powered infotainment system. Select trims also include BlueCruise.

What Trims & Features Are Available for the 2025 Explorer?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in four trims.

The base trim, known as the Active, comes with numerous features such as tri-zone climate control, heated front seats with multiple adjustments, keyless entry, keyless ignition, and second-row captain's chairs that seat up to seven passengers. The Active trim includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google voice commands and navigation, a digital instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. It rides on 18-inch wheels and has a power liftgate and LED exterior lighting. An optional package adds a heated steering wheel, a remote start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seats.

The ST-Line trim adds sportier styling and enhanced interior features. It includes a black grille, black lower body trim, and darkened headlights and taillights. The ST-Line rides on 20-inch wheels and has black synthetic leather seats with red stitching. It also adds safety features and has an upgraded B&O sound system with ten speakers.

The ST trim includes 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.

The Platinum trim offers a dual-pane sunroof, leather seats, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2025 Explorer Have?

The standard engine on the Explorer is a 2.3L four-cylinder that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The ST is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine, which produces 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It is optional on the Platinum trim.

What Safety Features Does the 2025 Explorer Offer?

The Explorer's standard safety suite includes rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intersection collision mitigation, and evasive steering assist.
