Ford and Partners Move Forward with ACCELERATE

Ford has continually positioned itself at the forefront of the American automotive industry. As an internationally recognized brand, Ford is dedicated to manufacturing exceptional vehicles while remaining a steadfast employer of Americans. Recently, at the “ACCELERATE the Essential Economy” event in Michigan, Ford leaders discussed the current economic roadblocks in the U.S. and introduced their strategic initiatives to overcome them.

What is “ACCELERATE the Essential Economy”?

“ACCELERATE the Essential Economy” is a collaborative meeting that brings together educators, skilled tradesmen, policymakers, and business leaders to examine economic challenges. Hosted in September 2026, this was the second event of its kind and took place at Michigan Central Station. The venue's history resonated perfectly with the action plans created during the summit. Restored by the hands of 3,000 skilled laborers, Michigan Central Station now serves as a dynamic space for developing cross-sector solutions to the nation's skilled-trades deficit.

Ford partnered with major organizations such as The Home Depot, Dycom, and The Wallace Foundation. Together, they are preparing to launch a national public education campaign in 2027 to attract a new generation of American workers to the trades. Backed by Ad Council research, the initiative addresses the gap: 38 percent of students consider a trade, yet only 11 percent actually plan to enter one post-graduation. The coalition is squarely focused on dismantling the primary hurdles posed by limited knowledge and outdated stigma.

Ford's Action Plan

Ford and its partners have forged a robust strategy to help young professionals explore the skilled trades and secure better career access. Ford Philanthropy is initiating the effort by expanding transportation support across various cities, ensuring that a lack of mobility does not crush career ambitions. Moreover, Ford Pro is rolling out Ford Pro Advantage, the industry's first certified pre-owned program for Class 1-7 commercial vehicles at more than 700 Commercial Vehicle Centers, making ownership easier for business operators. Finally, with the launch of the Michigan Launchpad for Industrial Innovation & Transformation (Michigan LIFT), Ford Philanthropy and JPMorgan Chase have pledged $550,000 to Focus: HOPE, a Detroit-based educational and job-training nonprofit.
