Specs at a Glance
One of the most recognizable and iconic SUVs in history is the Ford Explorer. Few SUVs can outclass or outperform this remarkable vehicle. For 2020, the Explorer will come in various trims. This includes the Standard, XLT, ST, Limited, and Platinum. Some of the most cutting-edge technologies can be found within its cabin, and its engine is primed to perform on all levels. Here is a comparison between the Explorer XLT and Explorer Limited to get a better feel for what each trim has to offer.
Performance
The Explorer XLT and Limited can be chosen with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that will generate up to 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. There's also an available hybrid engine when choosing the Explorer Limited trim. This direct-injected engine has been turbocharged, but it comes with a rear-wheel-drive system. Its 10-speed automatic transmission provides smooth shifts, and the dual exhaust has chrome tips.
The 2020 Ford Explorer Limited brings you a 3.3-liter hybrid V6 engine with 318 horsepower. With the hybrid powertrain, the Limited can tow up to an impressive 5,000 pounds.
Appearance
The 2020 Ford Explorer XLT and Limited possess a few differences in the overall façade. These mid-size SUVs are aerodynamically designed from front to rear. The Limited model adds dual-chrome exhaust tips and rides on 20' wheels. The grille offers a bright silver finish and a power liftgate with a foot-activation feature that drivers will appreciate. Fabulous LED lighting is available, and there are bold contours along with the lower door panels. Dark molding wraps around the lower half of the frame, which perfectly coordinates with the SUV's exterior colors. Depending on the actual trim choice, consumers can opt from a myriad of wheel designs and sizes. This includes:
- 18-Inch Painted-Aluminum Wheels
- 20-Inch Polished-Aluminum Wheels
- 21-Inch Aluminum Wheels
- And more
Features
The Explorer XLT can seat as many seven people and will get 17 mpg on the highway. Leather upholstery can be found in both cabins. There's an available twin-panel moonroof, but this is an optional feature. The Explorer XLT offers a standard sound system while the Explorer Limited offers a Bang/Olufsen sound system that utilizes 12 speakers, twice what the XLT has.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ includes all of the features on the XLT and adds a more advanced lane-keeping system as well as adaptive cruise control. A windshield wiper de-icer feature is also added in the Ford Explorer Limited.
