Specs at a Glance

The 2025 Ford Mustang remains one of the most engaging cars on the road. Its signature styling, exhilarating performance, and comfortable interior keep it desirable. Many buyers select either the GT Fastback or the Dark Horse trim. Here's how they compare.

Performance

The Mustang GT Fastback is powered by a lively 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 that produces 480 horsepower and delivers strong acceleration. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual with rev-matching or a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Mustang Dark Horse also uses a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 but receives special tuning to produce 500 horsepower. It's available with an uprated TREMEC six-speed manual or the 10-speed automatic. The Dark Horse also includes a class-first Drift Brake, adaptive MagneRide suspension, and a high-performance braking system.

Appearance

The GT Fastback has a muscular look and aggressive details, such as a high-gloss black grille and a vented hood. It rides on 18-inch Ebony Black aluminum wheels and is offered in Carbonized Gray Metallic, Race Red, and Vapor Blue Metallic.

The Dark Horse adopts a more menacing appearance with exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, black accents around the headlights, and a larger rear spoiler. Exclusive Blue Ember Metallic paint with color-shifting effects is available.

Features

The GT Fastback's cabin includes modern conveniences like a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital gauge cluster. Standard safety features include Co-Pilot360; the car also offers dual-zone automatic climate control, Track Apps, and an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Dark Horse steps up audio to a 12-speaker B&O premium system, while the GT Fastback comes standard with a six-speaker setup.
