What's' New For the 2019 Ford EcoSport?

The 2019 Ford EcoSport has undergone significant improvement with most of the optional features in the previous model being made standard for the 2019 release. The model is a continuation of the EcoSport series that was introduced into the market for the 2018 model year. The new EcoSport will be available in four trim levels and two powertrains that are distinct. The model also features a unique side-hinged rear hatch with the option of equipping it with an externally mounted spare tire.

The EcoSport Has Many Features Across Four Trims

The 2019 Ford EcoSport is available in four trim levels: S, SE, SES, and Titanium. The standard features for base trim level S are cloth upholstery, MyKey feature, a rearview camera, four-way manually adjustable front seats, a six-speaker sound system, two USB ports, and Fords SYNC connectivity system that features a 4.2-inch LCD screen.

The SE trim has almost similar features to the base trim level although it has some notable features that are absent in the base trim. The SE trim level features a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a moonroof, an auto climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear parking sensor, a push-button start feature, a shift knob, a satellite radio, six speakers, and a 6.5-inch LCD touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

SES trim level is the only model that comes fitted with a 2.0 L four-cylinder engine. The engine delivers a horsepower of 166 hp and presents drivers with the efficiency of all-wheel drive. It also features a rear cross traffic alert, a sport-tuned suspension, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a seven-speaker audio system, partial leather upholstery, and an improved infotainment system featuring an 8.0-inch LCD touchscreen.

The Titanium trim level features a nine-speaker premium sound system and leather-trimmed seats. A major setback for this trim level is that the 2.0 L engine is not available as standard.

2019 Ford EcoSport Performance

2019 Ford EcoSport Exterior FrontThe 2019 Ford EcoSport is available in two distinct powertrains with different power output abilities. The 1.6 L turbo-3 engine when coupled with a six-speed auto transmission and front-wheel drive has a horsepower of 123 and a torque of 125 pound-feet.

The four-cylinder engine offers more power as compared to what the three-cylinder engine achieves. It achieves a horsepower of 166 and a torque of 149 pound-feet. The four-cylinder engine feels more powerful and is a good upgrade from the 3-cylinder engine that feels underpowered. The four-cylinder engine, however, might prove less efficient in terms of fuel consumption when compared to the 3-cylinder engine. This is because it has an EPA estimated combined 28 mpg as compared to the three-cylinder engine combined mpg of 30 mpg.

Packed with Safety Features

2019 Ford EcoSport Exterior RearThe EcoSport model received an overall four-star rating from the NHTSA with a five-star rating on side impact protection. The AWD models received four stars for rollover resistance while the FWD received a three-star rating in the same category. The notable safety features for the model include rearview cameras, blind spot information systems, and the integrated blind spot mirrors.
