What's New For the 2020 Ford Escape?
The Ford Escape is a compact SUV model that has been in production by Ford since the 2001 model year. The 2020 Ford Escape marks the first model year for the fourth-generation Escape, meaning the model is completely redesigned for the 2020 model year. One of the most notable changes include an all-new exterior design-build on Ford's C2 platform, making the model a couple of hundred pounds lighter than the previous models. The second-row seats of this model can now slide, allowing for additional legroom for back seat passengers. Additionally, the all-new Ford Escape includes several new engine/transmission options allowing for more customization to the model's powertrain than in years past.

Available Features in the 2020 Escape
For the base trim on the 2020 Ford Escape, the standard features include a 4.2-inch display, an audio system, and USB ports. Most people will want to opt into At least the SE trim, which gets you an 8-inch touchscreen display that comes with a long list of available features such as navigation, smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, premium sound options, and more. As you move up the trim hierarchy, which includes four different trim levels (S, SE, SEL, and Titanium), these features, along with a moonroof, may become standard features. Please contact our dealership for additional information about the various trim levels for the 2020 Ford Escape.
How Much Power does the Ford Escape Have?
The all-new Ford Escape comes standard with a 180 horsepower three-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged engine. This engine averages great fuel efficiency figures at 27 city and 33 highway miles per gallon. These figures are amongst the best non-hybrid figures of the compact SUV class. Additionally, Ford gave its Escape model another engine option, which is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes up to 250 horsepower
No reputable source has released accurate fuel efficiency estimates for this engine option to this point. Both of these engine options offer a suitable amount of power and acceleration for the most day-to-day driving scenario. However, the turbocharged four-cylinder engine will undoubtedly be the more popular option for the added acceleration for the 2020 Ford Escape. There are also two available hybrid engine options available for this model.
2020 Brings a Wide Selection of Safety Tech
To this point, the 2020 Ford Escape has yet to be properly tested by any reputable sources to provide an accurate idea of this model's safety scores. We could look at the 2019 Ford Escape, which earned above average safety scores by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and an overall safety score of five out of five by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
However, since the 2020 Ford Escape has an all-new design, including a new exterior design on a new platform, the 2019 Escape's scores may not be an accurate representation of the 2020 Escape. Nonetheless, the 2020 Ford Escape comes with a long list of standard safety features, including a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, pedestrian detection, automated emergency braking, driver condition monitoring, and more. Despite not yet having any official safety scores, shoppers should feel comfortable in this model due to the generous list of standard safety technology.
