What's New For the 2021 Ford Transit Connect?

In 2021, the Ford Transit Connect has some additional safety features. Now you can get adaptive cruise control as standard safety features, along with conversion capabilities for propane and compressed natural gas. The Ford Transit Connect also comes standard with a 2.5L engine. The taxi prep package, previously available in 2020, is no longer offered for the Transit Connect in 2021.

What Are the Transit Connect Trims & Features?

The first trim level of the Ford Transit Connect is called the XL. This trim comes with vinyl floors. Its technology includes a 4.2-inch display screen, and it comes with Bluetooth as a standard feature. There is a USB charging port for this trim, and it has manually adjustable mirrors on the outside. Some advanced driver safety aids are included as well, including automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning. The flooring in the base model is made of durable vinyl.

The XLT, which is the second trim, gets carpeted floors instead. It also adds dual-zone climate control. There is an additional USB port at this trim level. It upgrades to a 6.5-inch infotainment display, and it adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard features. This trim is configured with Ford's own CoPilot 360 safety suite. The Titanium trim, which is the top trim level, is available as a cargo or passenger van. The Titanium trim has leather upholstery and xenon headlights.

What's Under the Hood of the Ford Transit Connect?

There are two engines offered for the Ford Transit Connect. The first is a 2.0L that generates 162 HP. This engine creates 144 LB-FT of torque. The second engine produces 169 HP. It also has more torque at 177 HP. The second engine is only available in the cargo version of the Transit Connect.

Safety features vary by trim in the Transit Connect. The first trim includes lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring. The other trims get Ford's Co-Pilot 360 safety suite with more standard safety aids.
